Theory and Implementation of 2.5D WFS of moving sources with arbitrary trajectory

Abstract: The reproduction of moving sound sources is of great importance when dynamic virtual sound scenes are to be reconstructed.Previous analytical solutions considered only virtual sources moving uniformly along a straight trajectory, synthesized employing a linear loudspeaker array.This paper deals with the 2.5D Wave Field Synthesis of point sources following an arbitrary trajectory.By adapting the stationary phase approximation for the dynamic scenario loudspeaker driving functions can be derived ensuring optimal synthesis along arbitrary receiver curveapplying an arbitrary shaped loudspeaker contour.The implementation of the analytical loudspeaker driving function is however not straightforward.It is discussed, what difficulties arise during the practical implementation of the presented solution, and numerical methods are proposed in order order make real-time implementation possible.
